Now you can control the sound on your Xbox directly from the console

Microsoft has released a software update on the Xbox Series X and S that improves the quality of life and brings small changes that you'll notice the next time you play a game.

Here's What We Know

If you have audio output from your console via HDMI, you can now control speaker volume directly from your Xbox using the new settings in the audio and music section of the Xbox menu.

Another feature related to audio is the ability to mute the sound that plays when the console is turned on. This feature has been available to Xbox Insider members for about a month, and is now available on everyone's consoles. In order to do this, you need to go to Settings - General - Volume and Audio Output - Advanced Options. This can be useful if you don't want to disturb your family at night when you want to play Halo.

There are also a few other tweaks in the October Xbox update, including changes to the names of power modes, as well as the names of Xbox access keys and guest keys, which are now called Xbox PIN codes. Microsoft also says that it will now be easier to set up your home screen when setting up the new console, and that the controller firmware update will fix some bugs when using USB drives in parallel with the controller.
