Microsoft Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2 get Android 12L and interface customization features with Windows
Microsoft Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2 got new user interface customization features similar to Windows, as well as improvements that came with Android 12L, an offshoot of the system specifically for big-screen devices.
Here's What We Know
We first learned that Android 12L would appear on Surface Duo devices back in March of this year, and after testing it did start arriving to device owners. According to the company, the updated look concerns the Dock Quick Settings and System Settings menus, as well as the Pen menu, which automatically appears when you use the Surface Slim Pen 2.
Similar to Windows, the Pen menu displays up to four program shortcuts that can be accessed as soon as you pick up the pen. Microsoft is also releasing four new wallpapers that match those from the Windows 11 desktop.
As for Android 12L, with it Surface Duo 1 and 2 owners get new widgets that allow them to pin certain chats to the home screen, as well as special features with better zoom options and brightness and color controls. There's also a new privacy bar and a simplified way to transfer data from another Android device or iPhone via Wi-Fi or cable connection.
