Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II for Xbox has a serious problem with crossplay
Modern Warfare II has been officially launched today and seems to be without any major problems, but there is still something. Players who purchased the game on Xbox Series S or X noticed that they cannot turn off crossplay with players from other platforms.
Here's What We Know
The crossplay feature was introduced to the franchise a few years ago and it's a really great thing. Now it doesn't matter what platform your friends have: Xbox, PlayStation or PC - you can still play with them online, but not everyone likes this feature, so some players leave the function disabled.
But in the new Modern Warfare, for some reason, players on Xbox consoles have been deprived of this feature. Although the problem may seem insignificant, there are actually many arguments against crossplay. For example, console players are used to playing on controllers and will be much less mobile than their PC counterparts. Also, there is widespread cheating software on PC that will give its owners a certain advantage over others, while on consoles it is basically impossible. And this is really a problem for Xbox owners, because on PS4 and PS5 users were given the opportunity to choose whether they want to play with players from other platforms or not. We hope that the developers will fix this problem as soon as possible.
