Elon Musk fired almost the entire Twitter staff in India
Every day there is new information about how Twitter employees are being laid off after Elon Musk became the new owner of the company.
Here's What We Know
Last week, we wrote that Twitter had laid off half of its staff. The downsizing process is not going as smoothly as planned. First, the company is being sued. Second, some employees are already being asked to return.
Twitter's Indian office was hit hard by the new initiative. According to Bloomberg, the company laid off about 90% of its employees - only a dozen out of 200 professionals were able to keep their jobs. 70% of those laid off were engaged in engineering and were responsible for software product development.
In India, Twitter is an important platform for political discussion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has over 84 million followers. Due to the dramatic staff cuts, it remains unclear how the company intends to address the issue of content moderation.
