The United States will transfer to Ukraine the AN/TWQ-1 Avenger surface-to-air missile systems with Stinger missiles to destroy air targets at a range of up to 5.5 km

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive American anti-aircraft missile systems.

Here's What We Know

It is about self-propelled AN/TWQ-1 Avenger on the Humvee chassis. According to Sullivan, strengthening Ukraine's air defense is critical because Russia will continue to strike infrastructure with kamikaze drones and cruise missiles.

The AN/TWQ-1 Avenger was developed by Boeing and General Electric. It is designed to destroy aerial targets up to 3.8 altitude and up to 5.5 kilometers in range. The complex has two containers, each for four FIM-92 Stinger missiles.

The American SAM should help the Ukrainian Armed Forces to repel kamikaze drone attacks Shahed-136 more effectively. In addition to Stinger missiles, TWQ-1 Avenger received a radar station and 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine gun.
