CASC unveils new generation 90-meter rocket with payload capacity up to 70 tons for Moon landing

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) has unveiled a rocket that will be used to land on the Moon.

The next-generation rocket is designed and developed according to the authorities' plan to launch manned spacecraft that will be used to land on the surface of the moon. CASC developers are now completing the next stage of testing, taking into account the "recent technological breakthroughs.

The next stage is the creation of a prototype. According to the corporation, the rocket of the new generation will have three and a half stages. Its height will be 90 meters, diameter 5 meters and mass will be almost 2200 kg. With two boosters and about 2,700 kilotons of thrust, the rocket will be able to carry a cargo weighing 27 tons and 70 tons into lunar and near-Earth orbit respectively.

The Chinese lunar mission with the crew, in which the new rocket will take part, is planned for 2027. The U.S. is not much farther along in this plan. Yes, a Space Launch System (SLS) rocket could launch next week, but the landing is scheduled for 2025.
