Windows 11 Task Manager can now quickly search for a program or process so you can quickly terminate it
Microsoft has started testing a new search and filtering system in Windows 11 Task Manager. It will allow you to quickly find a program that is not working properly and terminate it, or quickly create a dump file, etc.
Here's What We Know
"This is the most popular request from our users for a filter/search process feature," the Windows Insider team explains in a blog post. "You can filter by either binary name, PID, or publisher name. The filter algorithm matches the contextual keyword with all possible matches and displays them on the current page."
For quick access to the function, you can use the keyboard shortcut Alt + F and perform a search. The results will be filtered by individual or groups of processes that you can monitor or perform certain actions on.
In addition to the new search and filtering feature, Microsoft is also adding the ability to choose between light and dark themes in Task Manager. The themes will also be fully implemented in Task Manager with some updates to its user interface to better match the overall Microsoft Fluent experience.
