Top 200 most popular passwords of 2022: guest is leading in the US, password in UK, and 123456 in Canada

NordPass service has published its annual ranking of the two hundred most common passwords.

Password is the leader. Hackers can break it in less than a second. The same password is also the most popular in Australia and Great Britain. And in the U.S. the leading password is guest. In Canada the most commonly used password is 123456, which was the top password in 2021. In the overall ranking it is in second place.

The password 123456789 is in third place. Despite having nine characters, it can be cracked in less than a second. The passwords col123456 and guest are the most secure ones in the top ten. They take 11 and 10 seconds to crack. Also in the top 10 are qwerty, 12345678, 111111, 123123 and 12345, which was the leader two years ago.
