The LRU MLRS, like MARS II, is the European upgrade of the U.S. M270 MLRS multiple rocket launcher. France, Italy, and Germany were involved in its development. The cost of one launcher is over $700,000.
The Ukrainian Army now has more than three dozen Western multiple rocket launchers in service. In addition to LRU from France, the Armed Forces received M270 MLRS from Great Britain, MARS II from Germany and M142 HIMARS from the USA.
