SpaceX approved to launch 7,500 Starlink Gen 2 satellites - FCC in no hurry to approve request to launch 30,000 satellites

The Federal Communications Commission (FFC) has granted Elon Musk's company permission to deploy 7,500 second-generation Starlink Gen 2 satellites at altitudes of 525, 530 and 535 km. Their deployment will provide access to satellite Internet for smartphones.
Now SpaceX has on orbit 3500 satellites of the first generation, which is not very much like China. The company wants permission to launch 30,000 spacecraft into Earth orbit, but the FCC has been slow to approve the request.
The commission fears an increase in space debris in orbit. SpaceX's competitors, which include Amazon Kuiper Viasat and DISH, are opposed to having Ilon Musk's company put 30,000 satellites into orbit. However, the final decision will be made after the constellation is completed with 7,500 Starlink Gen 2 satellites.
