SpaceX postponed the traffic limit for Starlink in the U.S. and Canada until February

Last month it was announced that Starlink would limit traffic consumption in the U.S. and Canada to more than 1TB per month. However, the limits are not in effect yet.

SpaceX has decided to temporarily delay the introduction of traffic limits for satellite internet. Initially, it was reported that the restrictions will take effect in December of this year. Moreover, they could be bypassed for an additional fee.

The appearance of limits SpaceX calls the policy of "fair use". Now no satellite internet provider, except the company Elon Musk, does not offer unlimited service. According to new information, the restrictions will take effect in February 2023.

There is no information about changes to the "fair use" policy. If it remains the same, users will receive 1 TB of traffic per month (30 days). If exceeded, the data rate will be significantly reduced. The cost of additional traffic will be $0.25 per 1GB. The restrictions will be in force from 07:00 to 23:00, i.e. users will be able to download large amounts of data (e.g., video games) at night.
