Xiaomi unveiled MIUI 14 firmware with improved speed, digital tamagotchi and reduced power consumption

Xiaomi started the big presentation, which was moved from December 2 to December 11. The first novelty was not the smartphones, but the firmware on which they will run. The company introduced MIUI 14.

Xiaomi calls MIUI 14 "a fast and light operating system." Although we all understand that we are only talking about an additional add-on for the operating system.

MIUI 14 features improved performance in all scenarios and smooth scrolling. The speed of the firmware has increased by 88%. The manufacturer claims that the new version of the software requires less memory space, and applications consume 16% less power. Probably, the comparison is with MIUI 13.

Another feature of MIUI 14 is a small number of programs that can not be removed. The user can choose from four sizes of application icons. There is also an opportunity to add a digital pet or a plant to the desktop.

Also the Chinese developers paid attention to the speed of pairing smartphones with other devices. Xiaomi said that the phones based on MIUI 14 will be one and a half times faster to find Bluetooth headphones and 12% faster to connect to the TV.

The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will get MIUI 14 right out of the box on the Android 13 operating system. For older flagships, the update will be released early next year.
