"Wasted potential and talent" is what critics are saying about Netflix's Witcher: Blood Origin mini-series
The first reviews about the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin from Netflix appeared on the thematic portals.
Here's What We Know
As fans of The Witcher universe assumed, nothing good came out of this idea. Reviewers point out that The Witcher: Blood Origin has a weak and crumpled plot, and the technical execution cannot be compared to the modern fantasy series.
It is unlikely that a viewer unfamiliar with Andrzej Sapkowski's franchise will understand what the series is all about. The theme of the Conjunction of the Spheres and the creation of the first witches was not disclosed.
Originally it was planned to have 6 episodes of The Witcher: Blood Origin, but the authors had to compress them to four, so the narration turned out to be fragmentary and not very informative for the audience. The story was too long for a four-episode series. You can see that some of the dialogue is re-vocalized, and some of the story is presented with a voice-over.
Many critics were surprised by inappropriate references to modern media projects, in particular, to Terminator (!).
On the plus side, experts emphasize the interesting characters, which, however, do not have time to reveal themselves due to the short running time. They note the spectacular battles and beautiful panoramas.
Unfortunately, critics agree with the author of Gamesradar: "... The series is wasted potential and talent"
