Germany tested the launch of a Remote Carrier combat drone for a sixth-generation fighter from an airplane

A special feature of the sixth-generation fighters will be the ability to work together with drones with artificial intelligence. The European aircraft will be no exception. As part of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program, Germany has tested the launch of the Remote Carrier combat drone.

The Bundeswehr has tested the delivery of an unmanned aerial vehicle to the battlefield using Airbus' A400M Atlas aircraft. It can carry 12 to 50 Remote Carrier drones at a time, depending on size.

The Remote Carrier test model was a modified Airbus Do-DT25 drone. It was redesigned to be able to hit airborne targets.

The Remote Carrier is transported in the cargo bay of the A400M Atlas. Once launched, the drone turns on its engines and starts moving toward the target. The drone is controlled by the pilot of the aircraft, but as part of the test, the drone operator was on the airfield. He successfully landed the UAV.

The Remote Carrier was tested on November 15 in closed airspace over the Baltic Sea at the Todendorf military range. Airbus said it took only six months to develop the Remote Carrier launch vehicle.
