An enthusiast has created Ghostwriter, a unique AI typewriter that you can talk to
Design and engineer Arvind Sanjeev showed off his creation on social media, a customized typewriter called Ghostwriter, which uses artificial intelligence to talk to humans.
Details
The device is based on a Brother AX-325 typewriter from the distant '90s. Arvind did a lot of work on it: he added nicer colors to the case, an Arduino board to process the buttons, a Raspberry Pi computer, and an OLED display. The software used is the GPT-3 language model, on which the ChatGPT chatbot runs.
As a result, the smart typewriter can anticipate the ending of a word or phrase you're typing and conduct a dialogue, functioning like a chatbot. For example, if you need help writing a text or composing a poem. To correspond with the AI, you simply insert a piece of paper into the machine and start typing.
According to the author, his goal was to create a calm, meditative vintage typewriter interface that gets rid of all the digital distractions and takes you on an emotional journey through paper and ink.
I took apart my old typewriter and powered it using @OpenAI GPT-3.
