Google and iFixit started selling original parts to self-repair Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro
In April of this year, Google announced the launch of its smartphone repair program with your own hands. This means that you can buy a set of original spare parts and tools and repair your device with your own hands, at home, and replace some parts. The project was carried out in collaboration with iFixit, so its online store immediately appeared components for any phone from Pixel 2 to Pixel 6, including Pixel 6a. Now there's a new addition to the range - from now on you can repair the new flagships Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro yourself.
How Much Does It Cost?
There are many different parts available in the store. For example, a display for the Pixel 7 costs $137, and $207 for the Pixel 7 Pro. New batteries for both models cost the same, $50. The full main camera for the Pixel 7 Pro will cost $160, and there are also individual camera sensors to choose from.
These prices are for repair kits that come with the tools needed for the entire process. The price will be slightly lower if you only need a replacement part.
You can not save much on home repair - the rates in service centers and workshops are not much higher. But the repair will be made by your own hands.
