NVIDIA will take away Shield console owners' ability to stream games from their computer

NVIDIA has decided to disable the GameStream feature, which allows you to stream games from your personal computer to your Shield console over Wi-Fi. So users can play away from home, but only until the end of winter.

GameStream will run until mid-February 2023. The American company has chosen not to explain why it is disabling this feature. NVIDIA offers users Steam Link or GeForce Now services, but they have limitations.

Steam Link, as you can guess from the name, allows you to run games from the Steam digital store. GeForce Now has its own disadvantage. It lies in the fact that you have to pay money to play a full game. In the free rate, the duration of the game session is only 1 hour.

Note that the GameStream feature also has nuances. It works only if the computer is equipped with an NVIDIA video card. For notebooks - not older than GeForce GTX 700M. For desktops - GeForce GTX 650 or newer.
