Not only Marder BMPs and Patriot SAMs: Germany wants to give Ukraine an additional batch of Gepard anti-aircraft tanks

The German government plans to send to Ukraine not only Marder BMPs and Patriot SAMs, but also an additional batch of Gepard self-propelled air defense systems.

The information was shared by the German publication Der Spiegel. According to journalists, Germany is already in talks with two unnamed countries that have units, as well as a large number of 35mm ammunition for them. If Germany manages to reach an agreement, the weapons will be handed over to the AFU in the next few months.

Gepard is a self-propelled air defense gun designed to protect ground troops, destroy air targets at an inclined range of 100 meters to 4 kilometers and at altitudes up to 3 kilometers flying at a speed of 350-400 meters per second, as well as ground and surface targets at a range of 4500 meters. The Gepard is built on the chassis of the Leopard tank. The unit has been produced by Krauss-Maffei since the mid-70s. By the way, the AFU now has 30 anti-aircraft tanks Gepard.
