Tesla cuts Model Y and Model 3 of Chinese assembly again - September price dropped by 13-24%, while American and European cars are 24-32% more expensive
Starting January 1, 2023, the U.S. will provide a $7500 subsidy on the purchase of electric cars. For this reason, Tesla in the U.S. started selling cars with the same discount at the end of last year, so customers would not put off buying cars until 2023. In China, on the contrary, the authorities closed the subsidy program on January 1. This is one of the reasons for the significant drop in the cost of electric cars made in China.
Here's What We Know
Elon Musk's company is forced to reduce the cost of the Model Y and Model 3, which is being assembled at the plant in Shanghai, again. The price has dropped 6-13.5% and now the cheapest model, the Model 3, costs less than $34,000.
Since September 2022, the duo of the most popular Tesla electric cars assembled in China have fallen in price by 13-24%. In addition, it should be noted that the Model Y electric crossover already costs 24% to 32% less in China than a similar vehicle assembled in the United States or Germany.
