In Russia, the Forpost-RU reconnaissance drone at a cost of $6 million crashed on approach to the Ukrainian border
A Russian military drone left some residents of Belgorod Oblast without power. The Forpost-RU drone fell on power lines.
Here's What We Know
"Forpost-RU" is a Russian reconnaissance strike drone. On January 11, it crashed while flying over the village of Severny in the Belgorod region, which is about 40 km from the border with Ukraine.
Judging by photos from the crash site, the drone was equipped with a KAB-20S guided bomb. It is possible that the Forpost-RU was headed to Ukraine.

The drone costs about $6 million and is a modification of the Israeli drone Searcher Mk II. The key change is the ability to carry and drop munitions.

"Forpost-RU" is 6 meters long and has a wingspan of more than 9 meters. The maximum takeoff weight of the unmanned aerial vehicle is 500 kg, including a payload of 100 kg. The UAV is capable of climbing to an altitude of up to 5 km. Cruising speed is 180 km/h and the range is 450 km.
