ChatGPT is now a doctor. OpenAI neural network passes USMLE medical exam
OpenAI's ChatGPT has been already successfully interviewed for an engineering position at Google at a salary of $183,000 a year. And now the neural network has passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
Here's What We Know
The popularity of artificial intelligence continues to grow at a rapid pace. In the month since launch alone, the chatbot ChatGPT became the fastest-growing app in history, with 100 million users in January. ChatGPT is writing theses, articles, and even trying to help with litigation. In parallel, OpenAI is introducing a $20-a-month subscription that offers several benefits.
But now back to our topic. ChatGPT was able to pass a test for medical students in the United States. The neural network was able to give 88.9% correct answers to 350 questions from the USMLE. In addition, the artificial intelligence also made a clinically valid hypothesis when making a diagnosis.
Along with ChatGPT, the PubMedGPT language model attempted an identical exam. It was trained using medical databases and relevant literature. Despite this, the neural network only gave 50.8% of correct answers to questions from the USMLE test.
