SpaceX has raised Starlink prices in regions with more customers
In 2022, Starlink subscribers noted a drop in connection speeds. SpaceX has now decided to raise the price of satellite internet in regions with a large number of customers. However, in other regions the price will be reduced.
Here's What We Know
Starlink came into being a few years ago. Elon Musk's company offered customers average speeds in excess of 100Mbps and much lower latency than terrestrial internet. Last year, SpaceX raised the cost of its basic plan from $99 to $120 a month. However, connection speeds fell by about half, to 53Mbps, according to Ookla.
Hey @elonmusk thanks for increasing the price of starlink again buddy. I mean, I haven't had a noticeable increase of speed in the last two years, but sure, I guess I'll pay 20% more than I did at this time last year. pic.twitter.com/aCtwTtrcWP

In regions with limited bandwidth (where there are many users) SpaceX will once again raise the subscription price. The new price will be $120, an increase of another $10. But people living in regions with fewer customers will be able to save $20 off the current price. For them the tariff will cost $90. However, Extremetech reports that prices have been reduced only in New England and some other regions in the western and central parts of the United States.
The price of the Starlink RV plan, which allows you to use satellite internet on the go, has also jumped. The price is $150 instead of $135, and you have to pay another $599 for a separate terminal. Also, don't forget that SpaceX will limit the speed of the satellite internet to 1TB per month this year.
