Winamp is back as a streaming service with fair rewards for musicians

Llama Group has announced a new version of Winamp. Now it's not just a music player, but an entire streaming service.

Here's What We Know

Llama Group CEO Alexandre Saboundjian said that the updated version of the legendary player from the late 20th century will bring fair rewards for musicians. He acknowledged that modern streaming platforms allow artists to expand their audiences. That said, Sabunjian believes that musicians receive paltry revenues and cannot have complete control over how their content is sold.

The revamped Winamp should solve this problem. The service will offer several levels of subscription and up to 85% of revenue. In the future, the platform should have the ability to sell non-exchangeable tokens (NFT).

The creators believe that a loyal policy will attract 1 million musicians. Winamp will be available for creators from March 15 and will open to users on April 15. The service will offer music, podcasts, radio, audiobooks and will be available on Windows, Android, iOS.
