Germany will deliver additional IRIS-T air defence systems and Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine soon
Germany continues to help Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invaders.
Here's What We Know
According to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the country's government is preparing a new military aid package for the AFU, which will include additional IRIS-T air defence systems. Most likely, we are talking about several missile launchers, Not just Leopard 2 tanks: Sweden to give Ukraine Hawk and IRIS-T air defence systems. By the way, the AFU is already using IRIS-T. Presumably, Ukraine now has one or two batteries of SAMs in service.
In addition to IRIS-T, Germany is also going to send an additional batch of Gepard self-propelled air defence systems to Ukraine. They are built on the chassis of the Leopard tank. Ukraine currently has 30 such units in service. The Ukrainian Armed Forces use them to destroy Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136 and other aerial targets.
Deliveries of the weapons will begin in the coming weeks.
