TikTok and YouTube style: Spotify announces major redesign
Spotify has announced a major update to its branded app.
Here's What We Know
The music service will get a redesign of its homepage. It will now be a vertical feed of audio and video content in the style of TikTok and YouTube. The feed will have different sections: new albums, favorite songs, podcasts and audiobooks.
The home page will continue to display recommendations, as before, as well as branded playlists Discover Weekly, Release Radar, New Music Friday and Rap Caviar. The company will also add a virtual DJ card to the top of the interface (it only works in the US and Canada for now).
In the new version of the app, Spotify will also rename the Enhance tool to Smart Shuffle. It will not only allow you to shuffle the order of the songs, but also add recommendations to the playlist.
When We Can Expect It
Spotify is going to roll out the innovations gradually. The company plans to fully migrate to the new design within a month.
