Android Nearby Share is now available for Windows
Google's AirDrop competitor, Nearby Share, is now available on Windows in beta. Google announced its intentions to make the feature available on Microsoft's OS at CES 2022, and we finally have some results.
Here's What We Know
Nearby Share is a feature available starting with Android 6.0 or chromeOS 91 that allows you to share photos, music, documents, and even apps via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This transfer is much more convenient and faster than, for example, transferring files via Bluetooth alone.
In order to use the feature on your PC, you will need to install a separate Nearby Share app, which you can download from its website. Windows 10 or higher is currently supported, but ARM devices are not yet supported. In the app's settings, you can set permission to share with everyone, just your contacts, or just your devices. You will also be prompted to sign in with your Google account, which is recommended, as it will help the app detect your devices much faster.
Google is testing the feature everywhere, but for some reason, some countries from Europe are affected by the restrictions, including, for example, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Greece and Ireland.
