Tesla starts selling cheapest version of Model Y crossover with 4680 battery and 449km range
Tesla has finally allowed customers to place orders for the cheapest version of the Model Y electric crossover. The car is now available in three variants.
Here's What We Know
Until recently, customers could only order the Tesla Model Y Long Ranger and Performance. The cost is $52,990 and $56,990 respectively. And there's no tax deduction (up to $7500) for the top-end version, as it costs more than $55,000.
The base version of the Tesla Model Y will cost $49,990. It accelerates from zero to 60mph (96km/h) in 5 seconds and has a top speed of 135mph (217km/h). The electric car has a range of 279 miles (449km), which is 51 miles (82km) and 24 miles (38.6km) less than the Long Range and Performance respectively.
The Tesla Model Y comes standard with Tesla 4860 batteries made by Texas Gigafactory. This means buyers will be able to count on a $7500 tax credit.
