Atari purchased rights to more than 100 retro games, including Bubsy and Hardball

Atari recently made a big move by acquiring the intellectual property rights to more than 100 retro games from the 80s and 90s, including Bubsy, Demolition Racer and many others. This acquisition includes PC and console game catalogues from publishers such as Micropose, Infogrames, and Accolade, as well as the Accolade brand.

Although the company did not share the full list of retro intellectual property it now owns, the list definitely includes the aforementioned Bubsy and Demolition Racer, as well as Hardball, 1942: Pacific Air War.

Atari has stated that their goal is to expand the digital and physical distribution of these games, including bringing some of them to consoles for the first time. Also, according to the publisher, it plans to explore "brand partnerships and merchandising".

Atari states that this acquisition is part of its "multi-year effort to transform the company". As part of this promising process, the company is working with legendary game designer Jeff Minter to reimagine the 80s arcade prototype Akka Arrh, and last year released Atari 50: Interactive Museum Collection to celebrate the company's anniversary.
