Tesla wins autopilot accident lawsuit and will not pay $3m

Last week saw the conclusion of a court case in which a Los Angeles resident accused Tesla of having a driver assistance system to blame for an accident.

Here's What We Know

The woman's name is Justine Hsu. Four years ago, her Tesla Model S electric car with the autopilot feature on crashed into the kerb of a dividing lane. According to the car enthusiast, the car made an unexpected manoeuvre.

The impact triggered the airbag. However, it broke the woman's jaw, knocked out several teeth and damaged her left nerve. Justine demanded $3 million in damages from Tesla.

Tesla does not recommend that drivers turn on autopilot when driving on city streets. The company also warns that the system requires the driver's attention and is not self-driving.

As a result, a jury found Tesla's software not guilty. It is also noted that the airbag deployed correctly at the time of the crash.
