Lithuania signed a contract in 2016 for the purchase of 88 Vilkas armoured vehicles. Now the country's defence ministry wants to order an additional batch.

Vilkas is the Lithuanian version of the German BMP Boxer. The vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine and fully automatic transmission. The combat vehicle can reach a top speed of 105 km/h and has a maximum cruising range of 1000 km. Vilkas is equipped with a Samson Mk2 gun module with a 30 mm MK-44S automatic gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun in combination with two Spike LR anti-tank guided missiles. Production of the Vilkas is carried out by the ARTEC company. This is a joint venture between Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann.
