Google unveils Wear OS 4 for smartwatches: what's new

Google showed off not only Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold, but also a new version of its Wear OS for smartwatches at the I/O 2023 conference on May 10.

Here's What We Know

The system came out with the name Wear OS 4. Google developed it together with Samsung. One of the major changes to the software is a new format for creating watch faces with XML markup (Watch Face Format). It makes it easier to design watch faces.

The new version of the software also improves the autonomy of the watch. In addition, the developers have added the ability to back up and transfer data to a new gadget. Google has promised to reveal more details about Wear OS 4 a little later.

When We Can Expect It

Wear OS 4 is likely to be released this summer along with the Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatch. You can test the system now.
