Samsung announces Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition for military - smartphone with stealth mode, night vision and enhanced protection
Samsung has unveiled two smartphones for the military. These are not brand new models, but the already familiar Galaxy S23 and XCover 6 Pro, which have been released in the Tactical Edition series.
Here's What We Know
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition has IP68 water protection and the display is covered by Gorilla Glass Victus 2+. The smartphone receives a protective frame Armor Aluminum and a case that further increases the level of protection. The accessory allows you to fix the device on your forearm or chest.
Samsung XCover 6 Pro is additionally equipped with the MIL-STD-810H standard of protection against shocks and extreme temperatures. The gadget is not afraid of falls from heights up to 1.5 meters. The smartphone also has a removable battery.
Both are pre-installed with the Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit (BATDOK). This is designed to collect information about the user's condition. The Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) is used to collect terrain data. The software allows for more accurate navigation and targeting.
The Knox Dual Data at Rest (DualDAR) technology is designed to provide additional security through the use of two independent layers of encryption. According to the manufacturer, user information will be protected even if the device is de-energised. In addition it should be noted that the protection of sensitive data complies with the requirements of the US National Security Agency.
Another feature of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition is the stealth mode support. When activated, the smartphone switches off communication, including the ability to contact emergency services. If necessary, it is possible to connect to tactical radios, GPS and drones. The user will also be able to connect a monitor, keyboard and computer mouse to the smartphones. Samsung's proprietary DeX mode is available for this purpose.
