Spain will buy 8 Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk multirole helicopters worth €820.5 million to replace the SH-60B Seahawk
The Spanish government has decided to purchase Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk multirole helicopters. They will become a replacement for the SH-60B Seahawk, which are now in service.

The amount of the deal will be €820.5 million. According to current exchange rates, this is almost $990 million. At the same time in March 2022 the U.S. State Department approved the sale of helicopters and additional equipment worth $950 million.
Spain will buy 8 Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk units. They will replace the SH-60B Seahawk of the same company, 12 of which are used by the Spanish Navy. The SH-60Bs will start retiring in 2025 due to wear and tear.
Note that the US State Department recently approved sale of the MH-60R Seahawk to Norway. The six helicopters, propulsion systems, sonar, GPS systems and other equipment will cost the Scandinavian country $1 billion.
The MH-60R is equipped with a T700-GE-401C propulsion system. It is powered by two 1,410 kW engines. The helicopter is capable of reaching 270 km/h and has a cruising range of 830 km. In terms of armament, the Seahawk can launch AMG-114 Hellfire missiles and Mk 54 torpedoes.
