NASA built spherical robots to explore other planets, but American rescuers took them over

Experts from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have developed spherical robots that can withstand falls from great heights. They are aimed at exploring other planets, but they have found a use for them on Earth.

Here's What We Know

American rescuers have decided to arm themselves with new work. They use them to get detailed information about fire and disaster situations before they can arrive on the scene.

The design ensures that the impact load is distributed evenly during a fall from a great height onto a hard surface. The robots are equipped with special sensors, including chemical sensors, to gather information.

American company Squishy Robotics is responsible for marketing the new robots. The customer base includes major fire services and the Southern Manatee, Florida, fire rescue service.
