US shows Abrams M1A1 tanks to train Ukrainian crews

The US Department of Defence has published photos of the Abrams M1A1 tanks on which the Ukrainian military will undergo a training programme.

Here's What We Know

The pictures were taken on May 13-14, but have only been published now. The photos show the transportation of the tanks to the proving ground in Grafenwoehr, Germany. Incidentally, crew training will start in the next few days and will last for 10 weeks. After that, the tanks will be shipped to Ukraine in early autumn. In total the AFU will receive 31 Abrams M1A1 tanks from the USA.

Flashback

The US announced the transfer of Abrams tanks to Ukraine in January. Initially, it was about the M1A2 modification. Later, it became known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive older versions of the M1A1, which is in service with the US Army. Thanks to this, the combat vehicles will be delivered this year and not in 2024.
