Unsinkable: the iPhone has been underwater for almost a year - and it works!
Members of the Four Lakes Scuba Club in Madison, Wisconsin, are known for their clean-up operations on Lake Mendota. They recently discovered an interesting find at the bottom of the lake - an iPhone.
Here's What We Know
It's common for smartphones to stop working after being underwater for long periods of time. They fail when you take them out and try to charge them. But not this iPhone: it charges and remains functional.
Club members decided to find the gadget's owner. And thanks to the device's internal data, they found him. As it turned out, the smartphone belongs to a local university graduate. The girl dropped the iPhone in summer 2022, when she was boating with friends. So it had been in the water for almost a year and "survived".
The report does not name a specific smartphone model. But judging from the photo, it appears to be an iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro.
