Ukrainian Defence Forces destroy record number of Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 kamikaze drones overnight

On the night of 28 May 2023, Ukraine's air defence system was active again. A record number of Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 kamikaze drones were destroyed in a matter of hours.

Here's What We Know

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian Federation has launched 54 drones. The Defence Forces were able to destroy 52 Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 kamikaze drones with over 96% efficiency.

The drones attempted to attack military and infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. Most of the kamikaze drones were destroyed in the central part of the country, in particular over Kyiv and Kyiv Region.

Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 were launched from the Bryansk and Krasnodar regions of the Russian Federation. Some of the drones were shot down in the area of responsibility of the South and West Air Commands.
