Xiaomi makes $580m in 4 hours - China's annual 618 sale begins

China has launched its annual 618 sale, which is the summer equivalent of Black Friday. Xiaomi has already reported its first successes.

Redmi brand head and Xiaomi Group vice president Lu Weibing said the company's smartphones were the most popular among Android models sold on the JD and Tmall platforms. Details will be released later.

What is known, however, is that Xiaomi generated $580 million in revenue in 4 hours since the sale began, with sales of $140 million in the first 12 minutes and rising to $420 million in 1.5 hours. Separately, the company credits the popularity of air conditioners, which brought in more than $60 million in revenue.
