Apple unveils Mac Studio computer with M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips
On the opening day of WWDC, Apple unveiled not only its new M2 Ultra chip, but also refreshed models of the Mac Studio computer based on the M2 Max and M2 Ultra processors.
Here's What's New About It
Overall, the design of the Mac Studio hasn't changed from last year - the main changes lie inside. There's a big performance boost and more connectivity options.
For example, the M2 Ultra features a 24-core processor, a 76-core GPU, a 32-core neural engine and supports up to 192GB of shared memory. It is Apple's most powerful chip to date. According to the company, the Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip is up to three times faster than the previous Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra chip.
In addition, the computer now supports faster Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. It has four Thunderbolt 4 ports, one 10Gbps Ethernet port, HDMI, two USB-A, two USB-C and an SD card slot. The HDMI port, meanwhile, has higher bandwidth and supports up to 8K display at 240Hz.
The Mac Studio is available for pre-orders from today, with sales starting June 13. Prices start at $1999 for the version with the M2 Max chip.
