Compulsion Games announces South of Midnight, an action-adventure game with strange magic set in the US South
Compulsion Games has announced its new project South of Midnight, an action-adventure game, during the Xbox Games Showcase:
The trailer mainly focuses on the story of a young woman, Hazel, who seeks help from a mysterious large skeleton-like man playing guitar in the swamp. The game's protagonist goes in search of a huge magical monster that gradually emerges from the swamp using its own magic, known as "weaving". This magic is more akin to magic sewing than the classic spells found in video games.
In an interview with Xbox Wire, the game's director, David Sears, described the game's environment as focusing on the rural aspect of the US South. Although the story takes place in a magical version of the modern world, the areas explored in South of Midnight are not modern metropolises. The game was created with an emphasis on magical realism and gothic design to create the atmosphere of the real and magical South of America.
The release date is not specified, but South of Midnight will be released on Xbox Series and PC, and, of course, will be available on Game Pass.
