Ukrainian Armed Forces seize newest 2022 upgraded T-80BVM tank for the first time
According to Oryx analysts, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed two upgraded 2022 T-80BVM tanks and damaged another. And now, the first such tank has been captured.
Here's What We Know
Analysts @UAWeapons have written about it. They note that the 2022 design tank has received more dynamic protection compared to the conventional T-80BVM modification, but has deteriorated thermal optics. A 1PN-96MT-02 sight is installed instead of the Sosna-U.

The Russian media is calling the 2022 T-80BVM a "modified tank". Dynamic protection is mounted on the above-track skids, and a hollow-shielded net is located where the turret is attached to the hull. This solution has been borrowed from the T-90M of 2022.
The T-80BVM is fitted with a 1250 hp gas turbine engine. Maximum speed is 80km/h on highway, and range reaches 500km. The 2A46-4 gun has a caliber of 125 mm.
