It has become known that the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed a request to block Microsoft's deal with Activision Blizzard. This is not a surprise at all: the FTC announced its plans to block the deal back in December last year, citing the fact that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard would allow Microsoft to "suppress" competitors to Xbox, Game Pass, and Cloud Gaming.
The lawsuit is expected to be heard in August in an administrative court, where the first decision on blocking the deal as a result of the trial will be made. The filing of a request for a temporary restraining order to complete the deal next month will continue the process.
