Germany to give Ukraine guided missiles for Patriot air defence system

The German government has decided to give the Ukrainian Armed Forces an additional set of missiles for the Patriot air defence system.

Here's What We Know

This was announced by German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. We are talking about 64 guided missiles. What kind of missiles the Minister did not say, but it is known that the German Army has the Patriot system in two versions: PAC-2 and PAC-3. The latter version has M91 interceptors. They are capable of destroying ballistic targets.

Flashback

The Patriot is an anti-aircraft missile system developed by the American company Raytheon. It consists of an airborne interceptor missile and a high-performance radar system. The cost of one missile is about $3 million. Incidentally, Ukraine is effectively using the American SAM system. Since the Patriot has been put on combat duty, the Ukrainian air defense forces have managed to intercept quite a few ballistic missiles.
