Xbox chief assuages fears over AI use in video game production

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has allayed fears over the use of artificial intelligence to streamline game production, which could lead to fewer teams.

"Actually, that isn’t an area we’re thinking about a ton with AI", he said.

According to Spencer, the technology is much more useful for moderating conversations and keeping users safe. He compared the hype surrounding the technology to NFT and said games are not designed to showcase technology.

Spencer was also sceptical about using generative models to create NPC dialogues. He said he wants to allow teams to have fun with the creative process.
