Google Pixel Fold became the first foldable smartphone that can be repaired yourself
Google has been working with iFixit since 2022, offering official parts and manuals for almost all Pixel products. And with the release of the Google Pixel Fold smartphone, this collaboration will continue.

Some of the biggest drawbacks of foldable gadgets are their durability and difficulty to repair. Due to the fragility of the display and the complexity of the folding design, most manufacturers only repair such devices in service centres. Samsung, for example, offers in-store repairs and via mail-order delivery services for its Galaxy Fold and Flip.
Google, however, has gone a step further and will be selling self-repair parts through iFixit. The Pixel Fold will thus become the first foldable smartphone that can be repaired at home.
Talking to 9to5Google, a Google spokesperson confirmed this information. According to him, Google will provide iFixit with original parts, including batteries and even flexible displays. How realistic it is to replace a foldable smartphone screen with your own hands at home without permanently breaking the gadget remains to be seen.
In addition, customers will have access to the necessary glue and step-by-step instructions for repair.
