FAA clears the $300,000 Alef Model A flying machine for flight testing in the US

Alef Aeronautics will be able to begin flight tests of the Model A. The Federal Aviation, Administration (FAA) has granted the vehicle a special airworthiness certificate.

Here's What We Know

The document stipulates the location and purpose of the tests, in which the flying machine will be able to take to the air. Earlier we wrote that the FAA issued a similar certificate to Joby Aviation with its S4 electric air taxi.

The Alef Model A looks more like a conventional car than an electric aircraft, unlike the same Joby S4. The maximum range in ground mode will be 320 km and in flight less than 180 km.

Alef Aeronautics' flying machine is already available for pre-order. A regular entry costs $150 and a priority entry costs $1500. The Alef Model A will cost $300,000. The company believes it will be able to start deliveries in late 2025.
