Players of The Division 2 who exploited a vulnerability in Descent mode will be punished: they will face a temporary account ban
Last month, The Division 2 entered its fifth year of content support with the release of Descent mode. This mode proved to be extremely difficult, so many players tried to take advantage of the bug to join players who were already in the middle of the game and get extra experience and SHD levels. But it looks like the offenders will be punished.
Here's What We Know
Developer Massive Entertainment has made an official statement regarding this exploit and it seems that they are indeed taking strong action against players who have taken advantage of it:
"We take these issues very seriously and are comitted to maintaining a fair and enjoyable gaming environment for all players. We have thoroughly investigated the situation and identified individuals who have systematically used the exploits"."
Massive plans to "establish appropriate sanctions" for players who took advantage of the bug, suspending their account for two weeks for the first offence. Also, "authorised" accounts will be marked, and repeated violations will lead to an extension of the blocking period.
In addition, Massive reports that accounts with multiple violations will be permanently blocked. The progress gained through the use of the exploit will be reset for such players.
"We believe that it is very important that all players have an equal opportunity to succeed and compete on a level playing field," Massive adds.
