30 million users and the threat of court action by Twitter - Threads' first day results
Yesterday saw the launch of Meta's new social platform Threads.
Here's What We Know
In the first 24 hours, Twitter's main competitor has attracted more than 30 million users, and that's despite the fact that Meta's app is not yet available in the European Union.
Mark Zuckerberg's team made no secret of the fact that Threads is Twitter's analogue: it has the same concept, visual design and technical implementation. That's why Elon Musk's lawyers officially threatened to sue Meta on the grounds that the latter used Twitter's confidential data.
Twitter's lawyers suspect that:
Meta has systematically, deliberately and illegally misappropriated Twitter's trade secrets and other intellectual property.
Zuckerberg is accused of poaching former and current Twitter employees and using their knowledge to build a similar platform.
Meta categorically denies all of the accusations and claims that there are no Twitter employees on the Threads development team.
Elon Musk didn't miss a chance to leave a caustic comment: "competition is good, cheating is not".
Competition is fine, cheating is not
