Eurofighter has delivered 589 of its 680 Typhoon fighters and wants an order for 150-200 more fourth-generation aircraft

The European consortium Eurofighter GmbH believes in a bright future for the fourth-generation Typhoon fighter. The new CEO, Giancarlo Mezzanatto, made the announcement.

The European fourth-generation fighter entered service in 2003. In 20 years, the consortium has delivered 589 aircraft, which have already achieved a total of more than 800,000 hours flight time, and this figure will soon reach 1 million hours.

Eurofighter has received orders for 680 fighters in 20 years. However, Giancarlo Mezzanatto believes this is not the limit. The CEO reckons the consortium will receive new orders for 150 to 200 aircraft over the next two years.

The programme has boosted technology and qualifications in Europe. The aircraft were created at the end of the last century to protect Europe. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Typhoon continues to be the backbone of European defence. The fighters carry out air patrol missions on NATO's eastern flank and have already fought against ISIS in the Middle East.
