Rare first-generation iPhone with 4GB of memory sold at auction for a record $190,373
At the end of June, it became known that the original iPhone would be sold at LCG Auctions. Two weeks later, the first generation model was sold for a record amount.
Here's What We Know
The rarity of the sold iPhone is the presence of 4 GB of memory. The smartphone went on sale at a price of $499, but was not available for long, as Apple released a version with 8GB of storage a few months later.
The iPhone had a starting price of $10,000. It was expected that the smartphone would be sold for $100,000, but in the end managed to earn almost twice as much. The buyer paid $190,372.80 for the 2007 device.
The previous record lasted less than six months. In February, the first-generation iPhone with 4 GB of memory managed to sell for $63,000. The maximum bid in our case a day before the end of the auction reached almost $42,000. However, on the last day of the auction there was someone willing to pay about $200,000.
